Are you an experienced CNC Programmer and Setter looking for a secure, long-term opportunity with a well-established Australian market leader? We are seeking a skilled professional with strong experience programming and setting Citizen Swiss-type lathes and Mazak CNC turning centres to join a growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of the complete machining process, from programming and setup through to first-off approval, while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and supporting production performance.

Key Responsibilities CNC Programming
  • Create, modify and optimise CNC programs for Citizen Swiss-type lathes and Mazak CNC turning centres
  • Develop machining strategies from engineering drawings and customer specifications
  • Select tooling, cutting parameters and machining processes to maximise efficiency and quality
  • Drive cycle time reductions and process improvements
Machine Setup & Prove-Out
  • Perform complete machine setups for production runs
  • Install and configure tooling, guide bushes, bar feeders, collets and workholding equipment
  • Establish and verify tool and work offsets
  • Conduct first-off inspections and prove-out new or revised programs
Production Support
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to production personnel
  • Monitor machine performance and identify productivity improvements
  • Perform program revisions and process adjustments as required
Quality Assurance
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances and specifications
  • Conduct first article inspections and dimensional checks
  • Utilise precision measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers and bore gauges
  • Ensure all components meet customer and quality standards
Continuous Improvement & Maintenance
  • Investigate and resolve machining, tooling and programming issues
  • Assist with preventative maintenance activities
  • Maintain setup and tooling documentation
  • Develop best-practice procedures and support operator training initiatives


About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
  • Proven experience programming and setting CNC lathes
  • Strong experience with Citizen Swiss-type CNC machines
  • Experience programming and setting Mazak CNC turning centres
  • Ability to work independently and manage jobs from drawing through to production approval
  • Excellent understanding of tooling, feeds, speeds and machining best practices
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality manufacturing outcomes
Highly Regarded
  • CAD/CAM programming experience
  • Multi-axis machining and live tooling experience
  • Engineering or mechanical trade qualification
  • Experience mentoring CNC operators or apprentices
  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience
