- Under its 2026–2030 strategy, the company is focused on optimizing capital efficiency, actively developing its portfolio, and pursuing investment/M&A opportunities that create long-term value, with a target market capitalization of USD 5 billion.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Investment Strategy & Capital Allocation
- Lead the development and periodic update of the investment strategy, portfolio direction, and capital allocation priorities in line with the Group's strategy.
- Evaluate and recommend capital allocation/reallocation across sectors, businesses/assets, and development stages to maximize long-term value and capital efficiency.
- Periodically review portfolio composition and advise the Board of Directors / Executive Management on capital injections, restructuring, partnerships, hold, or exit decisions.
2. Market Research & Investment Opportunity Development
- Lead macroeconomic, sector, market, and company research; identify emerging trends, growth drivers, investment opportunities, and risks early.
- Develop investment theses and translate research into an opportunity pipeline aligned with GELEX's strategy.
- Provide independent investment recommendations based on data, analysis, and sound investment judgment; quickly build understanding of new industries and sectors.
3. Lead the Full Investment Lifecycle & M&A
- Take end-to-end responsibility from opportunity sourcing/assessment, due diligence, valuation, transaction structuring, and negotiation through approval and closing.
- Coordinate internal functions, member companies, partners, and advisers on large or complex transactions; ensure analytical quality, investment discipline, and effective risk control.
- Present, critically assess, and defend investment theses/proposals before the Board of Directors, Executive Management, or Investment Committee.
4. Portfolio Management & Post-Investment Value Creation
- Take responsibility for monitoring and evaluating portfolio performance against the investment thesis, business targets, and agreed capital efficiency objectives.
- Work with member companies/portfolio companies to improve business performance and enterprise value through strategic priorities, capital structure, operating model, governance, and relevant value-creation initiatives.
- Proactively recommend capital injections, restructuring, partnerships, exits, or changes to the investment approach when market conditions or strategic priorities change.
5. Senior Influence, Partner Ecosystem & Team Development
- Act as a trusted investment advisor to the Board of Directors / Executive Management; build alignment while maintaining independent judgment on major investment decisions.
- Build and effectively leverage a network of partners, financial institutions, investment funds, advisers, and other stakeholders to develop investment opportunities and resources.
- Build a capable investment team with independent judgment and strong professional discipline; develop successors and standardize investment decision-making systems and methodologies.
REQUIREMENTS
- 12–15 years of experience in investment, M&A, Private Equity, portfolio management, or related fields, including at least 5 years in leadership roles.
- Proven track record in developing investment/capital allocation strategies and managing large-scale portfolios.
- Direct experience leading multiple large or complex investment/M&A transactions, with deep expertise in due diligence, valuation, transaction structuring, and negotiation.
- Strong strategic thinking, investment research/analysis capabilities, and independent judgment; solid understanding of one or more of GELEX's core sectors and the ability to quickly learn new sectors.
- Experience working directly with, presenting to, and defending proposals before Boards of Directors, CEOs / Executive Management, or Investment Committees; strong ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Experience building and developing investment teams and establishing investment systems, processes, and discipline suitable for a large organization.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Investment, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field; CFA, a postgraduate degree, or an international investment qualification is preferred.
- Professional fluency in English, including business communication, presentation, and constructive challenge.
- Preference for candidates currently or previously serving as CIO, Investment Director, Principal, Managing Director, or an equivalent role at an investment group, Private Equity fund, or organization with large-scale investment/M&A activities. An Investment Banking or Strategy & Deal Advisory background is relevant where the candidate also has hands-on investor-side experience and accountability for capital allocation and portfolio performance.
