Managing Director

About the Role

The Managing Director (MD) is the highest-ranking executive responsible for leading the overall strategy, operations, financial performance, and growth of a logistics organization. The MD provides strategic direction to ensure efficient supply chain management, transportation, warehousing, distribution, and customer service while maintaining profitability and operational excellence.

The role requires strong leadership, commercial acumen, and extensive knowledge of logistics, transportation, supply chain management, regulatory compliance, and business development. The Managing Director works closely with the Board of Directors, executive leadership team, customers, partners, and stakeholders to achieve the company's short-term and long-term objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
• Master's degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred.
• 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in logistics, transportation, supply chain, freight forwarding, or related industries.
• At least 5 to 10 years in a senior executive leadership position (Managing Director, CEO, COO, General Manager, or equivalent).
• Proven track record of driving business growth, operational excellence, and profitability.
• Experience managing large-scale logistics operations and multi-site facilities.
• Strong understanding of logistics operations, transportation management, warehousing, and supply chain optimization.
• Knowledge of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and compliance requirements.
• Experience with ERP, WMS, TMS, and digital logistics technologies.
• Strong financial management and business planning skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the company's vision, mission, and long-term business strategy.
• Identify growth opportunities, market expansion initiatives, and strategic partnerships.
• Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor activities.
• Lead organizational transformation and continuous improvement programs.
• Drive revenue growth and profitability while maintaining operational efficiency.
• Develop annual budgets, financial forecasts, and business plans.
• Monitor financial performance and implement corrective actions when necessary.
• Ensure effective risk management and corporate governance practices.
• Oversee end-to-end logistics operations including transportation, warehousing, distribution, freight forwarding, and supply chain services.
• Ensure service quality, cost optimization, and operational excellence.
• Improve productivity through process optimization and digital transformation.
• Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) across all functions.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, suppliers, and business partners.
• Lead contract negotiations and major commercial agreements.
• Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and service delivery.
• Support sales and business development initiatives to secure new business opportunities.
• Lead, coach, and develop senior management and functional leaders.
• Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, innovation, and collaboration.
• Drive talent acquisition, succession planning, and employee engagement initiatives.
• Promote diversity, inclusion, and workplace safety.
• Ensure compliance with transportation, customs, trade, safety, environmental, and labor regulations.
• Maintain effective risk management frameworks and business continuity plans.
• Oversee health, safety, security, and sustainability programs across the organization.
• Report business performance and strategic initiatives to the Board of Directors.
• Represent the company in industry associations, government agencies, and public forums.
• Manage relationships with investors, regulators, and other key stakeholders.
