Chemistry Analyst

Location: Thompson's Station, TN
Pay: $26.50 per hour
Schedule: Tuesday–Saturday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM

About the Role

We are seeking a Chemistry Analyst to join our Regional Analytical Laboratory team at the Quality Innovation Center (TNT). This position performs chemical and physical analyses in support of scientific research, nutritional testing, and quality testing.

The Chemistry Analyst is responsible for delivering accurate and timely analytical results and plays a key role in supporting laboratory operations. This position reports directly to the Regional Laboratory Manager.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Natural Science, Food Science, Pharmaceutical Science, or a related field with an emphasis in Analytical Chemistry.

• 2+ years of experience performing chemical and physical analyses in the food industry or a related industry.

• Advanced education may partially substitute for the required experience.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, reliable analytical results.

• Ability to work independently while following established laboratory methods, procedures, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver accurate, reliable analytical results in a timely manner.

• Perform routine chemical and physical analyses while following documented methods.

• Collect, prepare, test, and analyze samples while accurately recording observations and results.

• Prepare detailed analytical reports, including recommendations, applications, and conclusions when appropriate.

• Monitor regional laboratory needs on a regular basis.

• Operate, manage, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instrumentation.

• Perform routine maintenance and safety checks on laboratory equipment.

• Maintain documentation of analytical results in the Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN) and/or Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).

• Follow laboratory quality management systems, including ISO 17025 and applicable internal laboratory quality standards.

• Support the safe handling and management of high-risk chemical ingredients (HRCI).

• Apply technical knowledge and expertise with specialized analytical instrumentation to support nutritional testing.

• Support testing of pre-mixes, pre-blends, mixer studies, raw ingredients, developmental products, and finished products.

• Estimate resources and time required for laboratory experiments and monitor performance against established targets.

• Contribute to laboratory documentation and continuous improvement activities when appropriate.

Laboratory Instrumentation & Testing

The Chemistry Analyst will work with a variety of analytical instrumentation and laboratory methods, including but not limited to:

• ICP

• ICP-MS

• Leco Protein Analyzers

• Fat Extractors

• Automated Titrators

• TGA

• HPLC

• GC

• Mass Spectrometry

• Wet Chemistry

Responsibilities may include sample preparation, clean-up, separation, assay, and analytical testing.
