Sr Industrial Engineering Specialist

The Adecco Permanent Recruitment Team is recruiting on behalf of a growing engineering and industrial services company for an experienced Senior Industrial Engineering Specialist. This is a direct-hire, 100% travel position supporting industrial equipment installations, relocations, machinery service, and maintenance projects at customer facilities throughout the United States.

This is a hands-on opportunity for an experienced Millwright, Industrial Maintenance Technician, Field Service Technician, Machinery Installer, Mechanical Technician, or similar professional who enjoys working on complex industrial equipment and traveling to different customer sites.

Compensation

$26–$30/hour + overtime
Higher compensation may be available based on experience.

• Time-and-a-half overtime after 40 hours

• $70/day tax-free per diem while traveling

• Company-paid flights, hotels, and rental vehicles

• Mileage reimbursement at $0.725/mile

• Significant overtime opportunities

Travel

This is a 100% travel position.

Employees travel to customer facilities throughout the United States. Projects typically last several weeks to a month or longer before moving to the next assignment.

• Travel is coordinated by the company

• Flights, hotels, and rental vehicles are provided

• Employees generally have opportunities to return home approximately every 4–6 weeks

• Candidates may reside in Michigan, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, or Illinois

• Corporate headquarters are located in Canton, Michigan

What You'll Do

• Rig, install, assemble, disassemble, relocate, and service industrial machinery and equipment

• Relocate equipment within facilities and between manufacturing plants

• Use industrial rigging and material-handling equipment including forklifts, overhead cranes, Versa-Lifts, millwright casters, and aerial lifts

• Install equipment according to mechanical drawings, schematics, and engineered plans

• Document equipment disassembly procedures to support accurate reassembly

• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair industrial machinery

• Replace bearings, shafts, pulleys, belts, chains, and other mechanical components

• Perform preventative maintenance including cleaning, lubrication, and equipment alignment

• Assist with industrial utility modifications involving chilled water, tower water, natural gas, and compressed air systems

• Fabricate and install associated piping using threaded, grooved, or press-fit systems

• Fabricate pallets and prepare equipment for transportation between facilities

• Load and unload equipment using powered industrial equipment

• Maintain a hands-on presence at customer jobsites and lead by example

• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members

• Work closely with customers, project engineers, team leads, contractors, and internal operations teams

• Ensure work is completed safely and according to customer and company quality standards

What We're Looking For

Ideal candidates may come from backgrounds such as:

Qualified candidates will have:

• 7+ years of experience in mechanical service, industrial maintenance, machinery installation, or a related environment

• Experience troubleshooting mechanical and electrical equipment

• Experience installing, relocating, disassembling, and/or servicing industrial machinery

• Ability to read mechanical drawings, architectural blueprints, schematics, and equipment service manuals

• Strong experience using hand and power tools

• Experience with industrial rigging and material-handling equipment

• Experience with forklifts, aerial lifts, pipe threaders, roll groovers, and similar equipment

• Foundational electrical knowledge, including systems under 600V and low-voltage controls

• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

• Basic mathematical ability relevant to industrial work

• A reliable personal vehicle suitable for interstate travel

• Basic hand tools, including wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, and similar tools

• High school diploma or GED

• Technical certification or vocational training in an industrial trade or mechanical technology preferred

Work Environment

This is a physically active, hands-on position. Candidates must be comfortable:

• Working at heights

• Working in dirty, industrial, and uncomfortable environments

• Performing manual lifting and physical tasks

• Working nights, weekends, and variable schedules when project requirements dictate

• Following strict customer and company safety and quality requirements
