CNC VTL Machinist

Warren, MI | Direct Hire | 1st Shift | Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM | Up to $32/hour

The Adecco Permanent Recruitment Team is recruiting on behalf of a leading aerospace manufacturer for an experienced CNC VTL Machinist to join their Warren, MI facility. This is a hands-on machining position supporting both military and commercial aerospace components, with part sizes ranging from approximately 30" to 70" in diameter.

Compensation & Benefits

• Up to $32/hour

• 1st Shift: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM

• $3,000 retention/sign-on bonus: $1,000 after 90 days and $2,000 after one year

• 80 hours of vacation/PTO, prorated for the remainder of this year; full annual allotment begins January 1, 2027

• 32 hours of floating holidays, available from the start

Key Responsibilities

• Operate CNC Vertical Turning Lathes (VTLs) in a production environment

• Run multiple machines simultaneously when feasible as part of a manufacturing cell

• Read and interpret customer blueprints, specifications, operation sheets, and CNC programs

• Work with difficult-to-machine materials including Inconel, Titanium, and Stainless Steel

• Utilize Fanuc controls and make offsets as required

• Load parts and fixtures onto machines using hoists and appropriate lifting equipment

• Load and secure parts onto fixtures

• Read tool sheets and set up tooling for production

• Work with right-angle heads and other machining accessories

• Apply GD&T principles and maintain tight tolerances, including measurements within thousandths

• Use precision measuring equipment including gauges, swing gauges, calipers, and micrometers

• Perform basic mathematical calculations and use calculators as needed

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area

• Work collaboratively with team members and support other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• 5+ years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment; aerospace experience strongly preferred

• Experience operating CNC Vertical Lathes/VTLs

• Experience working with aerospace components and/or major aerospace OEM programs preferred

• Proficiency with Fanuc controls, including making program offsets

• Ability to read and interpret CNC programs at the machine

• Strong blueprint and technical drawing interpretation skills

• Knowledge of GD&T

• Experience working to tight machining tolerances

• Ability to set up tooling using tool sheets

• Experience using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and swing gauges

• Ability to safely operate hoists and load large parts/fixtures

• Experience working with large-diameter components is highly preferred

• Strong mechanical aptitude, mathematics, and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

• Ability to stand for extended periods and safely access machine platforms

• Willingness to work overtime as needed

• Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States
