Not every Senior Tax Manager opportunity is about building another portfolio and managing the same compliance cycle.

This role is suited to an experienced tax professional who enjoys getting involved in the bigger picture — understanding what a client is trying to achieve, working through the tax implications and providing advice that is practical and commercially useful.

You’ll join an established professional services environment with a strong technical capability, approachable leadership and a collaborative team. There is also scope to play a meaningful part in developing client relationships and contributing to the continued growth of the tax practice.

Where you’ll add value

  • Act as a senior point of contact for a diverse portfolio of clients
  • Provide advice across NZ income tax, GST and wider Inland Revenue matters
  • Take ownership of technically complex tax questions and work through practical solutions
  • Review compliance and advisory work, ensuring a consistently high standard
  • Work alongside Partners and other specialists on significant client matters
  • Build strong relationships with clients and understand the commercial drivers behind their decisions
  • Identify opportunities to broaden the support provided to existing clients
  • Coach and support developing tax professionals within the team
  • Bring your own ideas around how the practice can improve and grow

What will make you successful?

You’ll probably be someone who has spent 8+ years building a strong grounding in New Zealand tax and is now looking for a role where experience and judgement carry real weight.

You’ll also bring:

  • A recognised professional qualification such as CA, CPA, Law or equivalent
  • Strong working knowledge of NZ tax legislation and Inland Revenue requirements
  • Experience advising businesses rather than purely processing compliance
  • Confidence dealing with clients, Partners and senior stakeholders
  • The ability to explain technical issues clearly and in a way that makes sense commercially
  • A natural interest in developing people around you
  • The initiative to spot opportunities rather than waiting for them to come to you

You don't need to be a traditional business developer. If you build trusted relationships and understand where you can genuinely add value, the commercial side tends to follow.

The environment

Expect a professional setting without unnecessary hierarchy. The team values technical quality, collaboration and people being comfortable enough to challenge ideas and contribute.

You’ll have flexibility in how you work, support for your professional development and the opportunity to make your mark within a growing tax practice.
