Intermediate Quantity Surveyor

We're working with a well-established subcontractor that has built a strong reputation delivering specialist packages across commercial and multi-residential construction projects throughout the Wellington region. Due to continued growth, they're looking for an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join their close-knit team.

This role is ideal for someone with 2-5 years' experience in estimating or quantity surveying who wants greater exposure to the full commercial lifecycle of projects while working alongside an experienced Commercial Manager.

The Role

You'll be involved from tender through to project completion, supporting pricing, procurement, contract administration and commercial management across multiple projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing estimates and take-offs from plans and specifications
• Measuring quantities and pricing tender documents
• Assisting with project budgets and cost planning
• Obtaining and comparing supplier and subcontractor quotations
• Preparing purchase orders and tracking material costs
• Managing variations and progress claims
• Assisting with subcontractor payments and financial reporting
• Supporting contract administration and document control
• Attending site visits and working closely with project teams, clients and suppliers

What We're Looking For

• 2-5 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Estimator or Junior QS
• Construction industry experience (main contractor or subcontractor backgrounds considered)
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or similar
• Strong numerical and analytical skills
• Great communication and relationship-building abilities
• Eagerness to learn and develop your commercial knowledge is a must
• Full New Zealand working rights
