An exciting opportunity has become available for a Quality Lead to join a well-established manufacturing business based in Seaview, Lower Hutt.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will take ownership of Quality, Health & Safety, compliance and continuous improvement across the manufacturing operation and office environment.

This is a role for someone who enjoys building capability, improving systems and finding smarter ways of working. The focus is heavily centred around quality systems, process improvement, compliance and operational performance, with Health & Safety forming an important part of the overall remit.

You will have the opportunity to review existing systems, identify gaps, introduce better processes and help shape how the business manages quality and compliance going forward.

We're particularly interested in someone who is digitally curious and forward-thinking, with an interest in using technology, automation, data and emerging tools such as AI to make quality and compliance processes more effective.

What You'll Be Doing

As the Quality & Safety Lead, you will:

• Own and maintain the organisation's Quality, Health & Safety and compliance systems.
• Develop, implement and continuously improve processes, procedures, standards and supporting documentation.
• Lead internal audits, compliance reviews and quality assurance activities.
• Identify process gaps and implement practical improvements.
• Manage non-conformances, corrective actions and continuous improvement activities.
• Investigate root causes and ensure issues are resolved sustainably.
• Maintain accurate quality, compliance and H&S records, registers and reporting.
• Support external audits, customer requirements and regulatory compliance.
• Work closely with operational teams to embed quality standards into day-to-day processes.
• Review existing systems and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency and operational performance.
• Develop reporting and insights to give leadership greater visibility of quality and compliance performance.
• Support investigations relating to Quality, H&S and compliance matters.
• Provide guidance and coaching to managers and employees.
• Help build a stronger culture of accountability, process discipline and continuous improvement.
• Identify opportunities to use technology, automation, data and AI to improve reporting, documentation, compliance monitoring and other quality processes.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a high-potential Quality, Compliance or QHSE professional who is structured, analytical and genuinely interested in improving how businesses operate.

You will ideally bring:

• Experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Management, Compliance, QHSE or a similar discipline.
• Experience within a manufacturing, production, industrial, engineering or operational environment.
• Experience developing, implementing or improving management systems and documented processes.
• Exposure to internal audits, compliance reviews, corrective actions and continuous improvement.
• Strong understanding of quality assurance principles and process improvement.
• Experience with ISO 9001 or other management systems would be advantageous.
• A working understanding of New Zealand Health & Safety legislation.
• Strong analytical, documentation and reporting skills.
• The ability to identify root causes, challenge existing processes and develop practical solutions.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and the confidence to work with operational and leadership teams.
• A continuous improvement and problem-solving mindset.
• A genuine interest in technology, automation, data and AI, and how these can be applied to improve business processes.

You don't need to have every answer from day one. What's important is that you're curious, commercially minded, comfortable with technology and motivated to build your capability while making a tangible impact on the business.
