Archaeology and Built Heritage Research Assistant

Working hours: 44 hours per week, overtime working is expected
Salary: $1,499 per day, $170 per hour (ot payment)
Requirements:
(a) Have an accredited bachelor degree in history related discipline from a tertiary institute of Hong Kong or equivalent;
(b) Have at least one (1) year’s accumulated work experience in assisting the operation, administration, preparation of researches, exhibitions, and educational and publicity programmes at cultural institution(s) in Hong Kong;
(c) Have proven experience in writing / research in relation to local history / cultural heritage / historic buildings / archaeological sites;
(d) Have good command in written Chinese and English;
(e) Able to communicate fluently in Cantonese, Putonghua and English; and
(f) Be proficient in Microsoft Office applications including MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and Chinese and English word processing.
Job duties:
(a) To assist in conducting researches on archaeology, historic buildings and sites, and themes for exhibitions (both on-site and off-site), lectures, guided tours, workshops, heritage trails, social media platforms, websites and for any other purposes as directed by Senior Officer;
(b) To assist in drafting texts in English and Chinese on archaeological sites and finds, historic buildings and sites, and for exhibitions (both on-site and off site), lectures, guided tours, workshops, heritage trails, docent training notes, social media platforms, websites, and any other purposes as directed by Senior Officer;
(c) To assist in collecting and analysing architectural records, archaeological reports, drawings, maps, historical photos and other archival materials for the research and survey as stated in (a) and (b) above. Research at libraries as well as government and institutional archives is required;
(d) To assist in conducting field surveys and recording on historic buildings and sites, and archaeological sites and finds for exhibitions, lectures, guided tours, workshops, heritage trails, social media platforms, websites and for any other purposes as directed by Senior Officer;
(e) To assist in presenting the research findings in educational, publicity and engagement programmes such as exhibitions, lectures, guided tours, workshops, guided tours, setting up of heritage trails, social media platforms, websites, and for any other purposes as directed by Senior Officer; and
(f) To assist in maintaining and updating the research materials, survey records and reports of historic buildings and archaeological sites.
