Technical Business Analyst (AVP) - Financial Crime Data & Analytics

We are supporting a leading financial services organisation with the appointment of a Technical Business Analyst to join a Financial Crime Analytics programme focused on enhancing AML, Fraud, and Transaction Monitoring capabilities.

This role will play a key part in translating business requirements into technology solutions, working across data, architecture, and delivery teams to support regulatory and operational change initiatives.

The Role

As a Technical Business Analyst, you will work closely with business stakeholders, architects, engineers, and data specialists to define requirements, analyse data flows, and support the successful delivery of financial crime technology solutions.

You will contribute to the full project lifecycle, from discovery and analysis through to implementation and testing, ensuring solutions meet both business objectives and regulatory expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather, analyse, and document business and technical requirements


• Work with stakeholders to understand current and future-state processes


• Analyse and document data lineage, data flows, and system interactions


• Support requirements traceability from business need through to technical delivery


• Collaborate with architecture, engineering, and data teams to define solutions


• Produce process maps, functional specifications, and supporting documentation


• Conduct gap analysis and impact assessments


• Support testing activities, including UAT and defect management


• Contribute to regulatory and financial crime change initiatives


• Help ensure successful delivery across multiple workstreams

Skills & Experience

We're interested in professionals who can demonstrate:

• Experience as a Business Analyst within financial services or other regulated environments


• Strong understanding of data analysis, data mapping, and data lineage concepts


• Experience working alongside technology, architecture, and engineering teams


• Ability to translate business requirements into clear technical specifications


• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills


• Experience producing high-quality analysis and documentation


• Knowledge of Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery methodologies


• Ability to manage competing priorities within complex programmes

Desirable Experience

• Financial Crime, AML, Fraud, Transaction Monitoring, or Compliance-related projects


• Financial Crime Analytics programmes


• Data governance or data management initiatives


• Capital Markets environments


• Quantexa or similar analytics platforms


• Regulatory change and remediation programmes
