The better you know a company, the more confidently you’ll perform in your interview. Being well-prepared shows interest and commitment – and it instantly sets you apart from other candidates. Good research works in your favour: it helps you appear more confident and also find out whether the company is truly a good fit for you.
The best part? With just a few targeted clicks and the right questions, you quickly get a sense of how a company operates, what it stands for and who works there. Here’s how to build a clear picture in no time – and shine in your interview.
How to get to know a company
Check the company’s website
- Homepage: What does the company stand for?
- About us / Company profile: history, values, locations.
- Products / Services: what does the company offer?
TIP: WRITE DOWN TWO OR THREE POINTS THAT STAND OUT AND PREPARE A QUESTION YOU CAN ASK.
Read the job advertisement carefully
- What tasks are listed?
- What skills and qualities are required?
- Are there any special notes (shift work, teamwork, customer contact)?
Often, the job ad already reveals what truly matters.
Use Google and the news
- Search the company name on Google.
- Are there recent updates – new projects, awards, changes?
- Reviews on kununu or Indeed can also give helpful insights.
Check social media
- Many companies are active on LinkedIn, Facebook or Instagram.
- You’ll find insights into daily work, projects, or events.
- You can also see how they communicate with customers and employees.
Ask around
- Do you know someone who works or has worked there?
- Friends, acquaintances or your Adecco contact may have valuable information.
Extra tip for the interview
Prepare a small question that shows you’ve done your research. For example:
“I noticed that teamwork seems important: How big is the team?”
This demonstrates interest and genuine curiosity.
